Sahara is a 3 year old female cavalier. Sahara is an owner turn-in. She's well behaved, but shy. She's settled in very well. No accidents in the house, loves attention and lap time, but you've got to convince her to come out of her crate. She's getting along great with the other dogs here. Her shyness should go away as she settles in. She's a beautiful young lady, but a bit overweight. We're working on getting her weight down so she's better able to have patella surgery. According to her previous owner, both of her patella's are luxating and she also needs to be spayed. We won't have it done at the same time. We'll see how she does and decide which to do first. In the mean time, we're just going to let her get used to the new house, routine and dogs here. She's slowly getting used to the use and our schedule. She's now coming out of her crate and joining us in the den in the evenings. She comes over and puts her front paws up, then we lift her onto the couch or recliner. She now is meeting us at the door when we come home. Waits her turn for some loving and then goes into the den where she claimed one of the dog beds we have scattered around the room. Once we finally get settled down, she's over at the couch wanting up with us. We’ve had her patella's evaluated by a canine orthopedic surgeon. He graded her patella's at a 0 for the left and a 1 for the right. He doesn’t recommend surgery unless they get worse. He attributes this to her loss of weight and the exercise she’s been getting. He recommended that she continue to lose weight and get regular exercise. Sahara’s been spayed and will get her stitches out May 3rd. Once the stitches are out, she’ll be available for adoption. She's found a wonderful home. All the commotion and dogs going on here seemed to keep her shy, but she did like a good snuggle and sleeping on the big bed at night. She's in a one dog family now and is getting the quiet and attention she deserves. She settled right in, just like she'd been there the whole time.
