ADOPTED! Evie - Blenheim Cavalier King Charles Spaniel

Evie is a 6 year old female cavalier.

Evie is a puppy mill turn-in. She's well behaved, but slightly skittish around people. She doesn't try to bite or anything, just freezes in place.

She gets along well with other dogs, is not house trained and is overweight. Right now the trick is to get her to trust us enough and to limit her food so she can lose weight.

She's coming around. When all the other dogs come over, she does too. Tail wagging like crazy. She'll let you pet her, but she does freeze for a few seconds while you're doing it. (We found that this was due to not hearing you and being startled by the contact. If she see’s you first it’s not a problem and the tail starts going like crazy.)

We took her to the vet for her checkup. She weighs 20.4 lbs., teeth severely need a cleaning, has an infection in her right eye and ear mites. The good news, after listening several times, is that she has no detectable heart murmur. Our vet had to listen multiple times, because it's not the average for a Cavalier her age. She is now on HeartGard and drops for both her eye and ears.

She's learned quick what a lap is for. She loves attention and will come over and put her paws on your leg. If you pick her up, she'll just settle down in your lap and enjoy the attention.

We have noticed that she is deaf. She does pretty well with hand signals and can feel the vibrations in the floor, but does not respond to any loud noises around her.

Her eye and ear infections have been cleared up. She’s also been spayed and lost 2 teeth due to decay during the cleaning.

A wonderful forever home has been found for her. She has a great mom and 2 Tri sisters.
