Ginger is a 9 Year Old owner turn-in. She’s going to be in rescue for a little while. She came into rescue from an owner that rescued her from a puppy mill, but then found out that she was allergic to her. It was a hard decision for her to make, but I believe it's the best one for them both. She's currently in season, so her spay will have to be put on hold until she's out. She will go ahead and see the vet for a general checkup, rabies vaccination and heartworm test. She saw the vet, got all her shots and is heartworm clear. They did detect a very loud murmur, so for now her spay is on hold again until she can be checked by a canine cardiologist. When she came in, she was scared around people. She wouldn't run away, but would freeze and shrink back. She's always wanted to be around people, just not touched. Now she's getting a lot better. She comes over and wants attention. She does a lot better with women than men. She's been to the cardiologist and had her heart murmur checked. What was thought to be a 4/5 from sound, was found to be an actual 2. She has a growth on her aortic valve that is "slapping" when the valve closes. That made it sound a lot worse than it was. Since she's received her heart clearance, her spay and teeth cleaning have been done. Since coming into rescue, she's had an eye infection that will not clear up permanently. It has cleared up for 2 to 3 weeks and then comes back. She's been to the ophthalmologist where he found a scratch on her eye, under the eyelid, which was keeping the infection going. She's now being treated for both at the same time. Her left eye had to be removed and she's doing well. It doesn't bother her vision wise, since she had lost sight in that eye before she came into rescue. Now we're waiting for her to recover before putting her up for adoption. She’s become a little lovebug and gets more so every day. She follows you around the house and if you sit down, will come up and lay next to you. If you’re not “available”, she’ll curl up with one of our other cavaliers. Ginger has been adopted by a wonderful family. They drove over 10 hours to meet and adopt her.
