I am happy to introduce you to Lola, a 5 ½ year old Blenheim. It did not take Lola any time at all to blend in with her foster family. She is a dear! Lola is petite, weighing 16 pounds. This reserved girl is an easy keeper. She is house trained and is not a high-energy dog. She sometimes needs coaxing to go outdoors, especially in wet weather. After doing her business, she is happy to return to the house. At home, she follows Mom from room to room. She is not a lap dog, but enjoys to lying beside us on the couch, at our feet, or on the couch cushions behind our heads. Lola requires a gentle hand. She has a bit of a playful side, but does not like roughhousing or rough petting. She will sound the alarm if she hears the doorbell or a knock at the door. She is suspicious of newcomers to the house, and will bark occasionally, until she knows they are trustworthy and accepted by Mom and Dad. Again, Lola should be introduced to new people slowly with a treat and a very gentle hand. Lola does not need a home with small or rambunctious children, but she has bonded with our calm teenagers with no problem. She is fine with our quiet, nonreactive cat, but she will chase an animal if it runs away. While living with us, Lola has become accustomed to walking on a leash, spending a bit more time outdoors, and generally getting more exercise than she was accustomed to. She will politely sit for a treat. Treats also go a long way when she is meeting new people and learning about her new family. Lola has possibly had bad experiences with grooming in the past. While she requires patience in this area, she has already come a long way. Lola has a few medical issues. When she came, she had some muscle soreness along her back and sometimes limped a bit upon standing after a nap. She has luxating patella (grade 1-2) in one knee. Her other knee does not luxate at all. Perhaps this is due to an old injury or other cause but it does not seem to cause her difficulty at this time. She has a heart murmur. We started Lola on a small dose of Medicam (I use the liquid, which is less expensive, easily measured, and added to her evening meal) and she feels great. She does not limp, but walks, runs, and jumps on the furniture. The ideal home for Lola would have another Cavalier and someone at home at least part of everyday. It would not include young children. I think it would be wonderful if this adorable girl could find her forever home right away. She has already stolen our hearts! Lola is being fostered in Dyersburg, Tennessee.
