Cavalier King Charles Spaniel: An adoptable dog in Mount Ida, AR Small • Senior • Male Amil is a sweet 7-year old breeder dog scheduled to be euthanized because he couldn't breed anymore. We rescued him because, even with his age and a heart murmur, we think he deserves a chance at a life as a family pet - even if it is a short life. Amil is very quiet and enjoys being petted and loved on. He flirts with you with mournful eyes and a wagging tail because he know in his foster home that means a scratch under the chin. Amil is overweight! he weighs 19 pounds and needs to lose weight slowly. Breeder dogs are often overweight because they do not get the opportunity to exercise. His teeth were very bad when we got him. The vet extracted the rotten teeth and thoroughly cleaned the ones that are left. He has been neutered, had a hernia repair, and been wormed and vaccinated. Amil is enjoying house-privileges and has not had an accident yet. However, it is unusual for breeder dogs to be house-trained, so we are keeping an eye on that. He will need a pill daily for his heart murmur. His adoptive family will get a 30-day supply of his medicines when he is adopted. His prescription is not expensive, though. Amil enjoys being around other animals, but would be happy, we think, as the only dog in a quiet household. He is quite the little lap dog. After being handled maybe once a week in his previous life, his favorite pastime now is to sit on your lap and be adored. If you think you have the heart to take care of a senior, special-needs dog and give him a few years of a good life, contact debandronb@earthlink.net for an application. Amil's adoption fee is $100.00 to cover part of his expenses. Warm Hearts' animals are not adopted on a first-come, first-serve basis. Applications are reviewed, interviews are conducted, and vet references are checked to help determine the best home for our animals. Because most of our animals are rescues, breed and age determination are typically our best guess. All that matters to us, is that we find the right home for each animal in our foster care.
