Cena is a 1 year old Rescue Cavalier King Charles Spaniel that we're fostering. He's an energetic Blenheim male. He was released to Cavalier Rescue from a shelter in Knoxville, TN. He has been neutered, has all his shots and been checked at the local vet. Once he's had a chance to be evaluated, he will be put up for adoption. More pictures will be posted later. He's come a long way since coming into rescue. Here's the foster families write-up on him: My name is Cena, and I’m a very healthy & energetic 16-month old Blenheim boy. I was dropped at a Shelter in Knoxville TN when I was just 10 months old, very thin and obviously not well-loved. The shelter was told I was “snappy” but seriously - when you don’t get food regularly & you’re hungry - you tend to be a little grouchy, know what I mean? Being dropped off was probably the best thing that could’ve happen to me though because it gave me the opportunity to stay with a foster family that has offered love, direction & a little discipline and that has allowed my true loving personality to shine! I truly am a sweetheart – a great little companion and all I needed was a little love & attention to let it out. My foster parents say that I’m extremely smart and eager to please. I learned sit & stay very quickly and with routine guidance – I’m proud to say I’m now 100% housetrained. Having bells on the doors - it’s amazing how easily you can communicate when “its time to go”! At first I must admit, I had a bit of food aggression, but now I am so “over that”! When I’m told to “go to my room” at mealtimes – I know there is pay day for being patient and waiting until I’m “excused” to begin my meals. Nothing like a few square meals a day to relieve the fear of going hungry! I do love going on my daily walks and I do very well on the leash but I also love a free run in the woods with the breeze blowing through my feathers when given the chance. I know I would love agility training – and would be a star if given the chance to try it. Hanging with my two foster brothers is another favorite pastime – but come evening - you can find me cuddling on the couch – I love a good snuggle as much as the next man! I thoroughly enjoy my toys and can entertain myself with a toy, my own tail or simply watching and chasing a few birds or butterflies in the backyard. I am crate-trained for the most part, but don’t love being completely by myself – its so much more fun being with others! Most of the time I sleep in my crate, but in the same room as the foster parents - comforting to know they are close! But what I really love are those nights when I’m allowed big bed privileges. I am up-to-date on all shots and have been neutered, and my local vet said I am extremely healthy with no visible health concerns. Bottom line – I have come a long way since coming into rescue and while I dearly love my foster family (and vice versa), I’m ready & excited about finding a forever home of my very own! The best home for me will be one where I’m loved & adored & showered with attention. Having another dog would be great too, because I’m very social - and while I haven’t had that much experience with small children, I get along great with older ones that know how to be gentle with me. I know that I would benefit from a home where someone is home often during the day – as I love company. And a home with a fenced-in yard would be ideal as I absolutely love to sit outside and explore all the outdoors has to offer.
