Sampson is a approximately 8 year old Rescue Cavalier King Charles Spaniel that we're fostering. He's an neutered Blenheim male. He is an owner release. He has been neutered and is deaf. He's been to the Vet. He does have almost complete hearing loss, but he can her loud noises in the higher frequencies. The Vet also heard a heart murmur, so was temporarily rated a 3 or 4 till we can get him scheduled for a ultrasound with a canine cardiologist. Other than that, his heartworm and fecal checks were good and his shots are up to date. He's got a great personality. Loves to cuddle with you and give you little kisses. Being deaf, the problem is getting him to see you, but once he does, a simple wave of you hand toward you will get him to come over. He doesn't jump on the furniture or our bed, even with stairs leading up. He does like to be up on them with you, but you'll have to pick him up and put him up there. He has been to the Cardiologist and had a color Doppler check. What he found was a grade 3 MVD. There was slight enlargement on the Atrium side of the heart, but it wasn't affecting his condition right now. The cardiologist doesn't recommend any medications. Sampson was a little overweight when he came into rescue. We've also started him on a joint supplement. He lost a couple of pounds, from 24 to 18 lbs, and is now more active. He follows us around the house and yard. We still haven't found any toys he will play with, but we keep trying. We've also found out that Sampson is not completely deaf. He can hear loud noises, other dogs barking and us yelling for him to come when he got out of the back yard. :-) Sampson has gone to his forever home. He now has an 8 year old step-brother, Gordie, to keep him company. Rest in Peace Sampson and Gordie. We'll meet again at the Rainbow Bridge.
